This project seeks to use the ArcGIS StoryMaps platform to introduce students to the great cultural and linguistic diversity that exists within the French-speaking world, moving beyond the borders of France. Students are introduced to the topic using an ArcGIS map of the francophone world. Students then engage further with the topic by creating their own interactive ArcGIS StoryMap of a particular French-speaking country or region, embedding it with multimedia content that represents the country or region's unique cultural and linguistic heritage. A complete outline of all steps is included on the project page.
Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform that allows students to compete as individuals or groups by answering multiple-choice questions. In this elementary lesson on Chinese festivals, Kahoot! was used as an assessment tool at the end of the class period. It requires students to bring laptops, tablets. or mobile phones that connected to the Internet. The objective of using Kahoot! in this lesson is to have students review their new knowledge about Chinese culture, while the instructor receives immediate feedback about the students’ learning gains.
