This is a project that allows students to collaborate with various digital tools while practicing FL skills and enhancing cultural competencies in a given lesson. Examples of digital tools used for this specific lesson are flipgrid (speaking), twitter and padlet (writing and culture), as well as virtual reality with Google cardboard to experience culture.
This project will allow students to run with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain at the festival of San Fermín from the comfort and safety of the classroom using virtual reality. The objective is to give students an immersive cultural experience in addition to learning about this world famous event and festival. The students will use Google cardboard viewers along with a smartphone and the google cardboard application.
Students will analyze and discuss the information related to the United Nations 17 Sustainability Development Goals on the "Les Objectifs de développement durable" website. In small groups, they will choose one francophone country and 5 of the 17 United Nations goals. After doing some research, students will use Utellstory.com to illustrate how they would implement the 5 chosen goals in their country of choice. Each goal will be represented by an image, an explanatory text, and an oral narrative. ACTFL interpretive, interpersonal and presentational communication modes will be activated as well.
