This project uses Twitter to give students the opportunity to communicate via social media in the target language. Twitter has proven to be an excellent tool for writing and corresponding in a relevant and authentic way. My students have really enjoyed using it throughout the semester and even beyond their matriculation in class.
This interdisciplinary lesson combines Spanish language, history, art, and cultural studies. Students annotate historical moments contained in an authentic text (Renau’s mural). By the end of the semester, students will have generated a complete timeline of the events studied in class. Students also create their own artwork related to another moment in history and add it to the timeline.
Inspired by real estate television shows like House Hunters International, students use the houses listed on authentic real estate websites to select a house that fits within their budget, space, and style requirements. As students practice house vocabulary, they are also learning about typical housing styles in another country.
This is a website tool that allows students to record and post audio and video in a meaningful, fun, and engaging way. The site allows for oral communication in a setting outside of class.
